Named after the legendary film maestro Satyajit Ray, this institute is one of the best film schools in India. The institute was established in 1995 and is funded by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. SRFTI stands inline with Film and Television Institute of India in its training standards as well as industrial exposure. SRFTI is one of the three full members of International Liaison Centre of Schools of Cinema and Television (French: Centre International de Liaison des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Télévision, CILECT), an organisation of the world’s leading schools of film and television, along with FTII, Pune and Whistling Woods International (WWI), Mumbai.

|Semester I||Cinema studies integrated/theatre workshop/ Drawing/ Graphic narrative and sequential art/ Animation basics and studies in motion./ Animation practice to be in 2 D and 3 D.
Theory : History of Animation Cinema/ History of Arts/ Contemporary Animation One.
|Semester II||Camera studies/ PROJECT ONE: Animating light/drawing/ kinetics/text and image/editing/sound design for animation./ PROJECT TWO: Animating to sound/ Animation Practice to be in 2 D and 3 D.
Theory: Contemporary Animation Two./ ways of telling/Narrative styles/Genre.

Theory: Film makers and their work. Comparative studies.
|Semester IV||PROJECT THREE: Hand Drawn Animation duration 1mt/ Electives-mural, painting, sculpture, printmaking/ Stop Motion, Model Animation/Seminar/Departmental Electives, Game Design, Visual Effects in Cinema.
Theory: Analysis and Criticism of Animation Cinema.

Selection of Candidates to SRFTI
Selection of candidates to the courses offered by SRFTI is done through a national level entrance examination, followed by an interactive orientation course. SRFTI issues an admission announcement usually in march and the written exam will be in May. Once the exams are announced, we will come back with a STEP-BY-STEP guide for completing the application process. Stay in touch and subscribe to our page to get all the important information in time.
Duration of the exam will be 3 hours. Out of a total of 100 marks, 30 marks will be for mental aptitude, 40 marks will be awarded for creative aptitude and the remaining 30 for specific area aptitude. Based on the area of specialization you prefer, you will have to answer one among the 5 different sets of questions in the specific area aptitude section.
